Students must be at least 15 years old to start driver's education in Washington state.
What if I need to miss a class?
Students may miss no more than three classes during a course, these need to be made up. If more than three classes are missed, the student is disenrolled without refund. The student may re-enroll, standard course fees apply.
If I am 18 or older can I still enroll in drivers ed?
Yes! In fact, it is common for our classes to have students who are 18 or older. However, we also offer private driving lessons for those adults who do not wish to enroll in a formal driver's education program. These lessons are charged at an hourly rate.

DOL Testing
When can I take my licensing tests?
Once you have completed the driver education course requirements, you may sign up for state testing with us or at any other location that proctors testing statewide. From our website, click on the Driver's License Testing tab and click on the schedule link for a calendar of testing dates and times. Reservations are required.
Once you pass the knowledge test, you may sign up for the skills test.
There is an option to take the knowledge test at 15 1/2 years old, as long as the student has not already had a waiver filed and classes have not yet begun.
How do I prepare for the knowledge test?
Study the Washington Driver's Guide Handbook thoroughly before coming in to take the knowledge test. A free PDF of the Washington Driver's Guide is available online. Physical copies can be picked up in the foyer at DOL offices in Spokane and Spokane Valley. If you learn better by listening, an Internet search will lead you to an audio file at the DOL website.
